Deepak Prem Subramony is Associate Professor—and Coordinator of Educational Technology Graduate Programs—in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Kansas State University’s College of Education. He holds an M.A. in Mass Communication (2001) from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology (2005) from Indiana University Bloomington. Prior to arriving at Kansas State, he held faculty positions at Utah State University and Grand Valley State University. His primary scholarly interests revolve around the issues of (a) equitable access to the emancipatory potential of Information-Age educational and communications technologies (ECT), and (b) the complex relationship between ECT and stakeholders from historically underrepresented, underserved, and marginalized groups. In 2014 he co-authored (with Michael Molenda and others) a special issue— “The Mythical Retention Chart and the Corruption of Dale’s Cone of Experience” —of Educational Technology, a journal on whose editorial board he also served for several years. He is currently serving as president of AECT’s Division of Culture, Learning, and Technology.
